Each of California's four regions, desert, valley, mountain, and coastal, have different plant and tree species because of the very different weather conditions.
For example, the plants that are in the valley region need a lot of sunlight and water. They can't live in the desert region because it has little water and too much sunlight. Some plants can't live in the mountain region because there is too much water and too little sunlight.
